New Delhi will host significant trade talks with the United States beginning December 10th, focusing on advancing the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The negotiations aim to solidify a trade pact that was initially slated for its first tranche completion by autumn 2025. However, changes in the US trade policy environment, including tariff adjustments, have shaped the current discussions. There is considerable optimism among negotiators that key agreements can be reached within the current calendar year, reflecting the substantial headway made. The BTA initiative, a key outcome from high-level discussions, targets a substantial increase in bilateral trade, aspiring to grow from $191 billion to $500 billion by 2030.
