Indian arrested in Sri Lanka for smuggling overseas forex price over Rs 4 crore

A forty five-year-old Indian businessman has been arrested on the Sri Lanka worldwide airport for making an attempt to smuggle overseas forex price over Rs 4 crore overseas.

The man, who has not been recognized, was arrested on Sunday by safety officers on the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Daily Mirror Lanka reported on Monday.

He got here to Sri Lanka for enterprise.

Following a search of his suitcase, the safety officers discovered 1,17,000 Canadian {dollars} and 19,000 Euros price over Rs 4 crore, the report added.

Security officers checked the passenger’s baggage after he behaved in a suspicious method. The officers noticed that the passenger was visiting a rest room on the airport departure passenger terminal a number of occasions in a brief time frame, the Daily News Lanka reported.

He was to board an Indigo Flight sure for Chennai.

The passenger and his consignment of overseas forex had been handed over to the Customs officers at Katunayake Airport for additional investigations.

The overseas forex had been confiscated whereas the passenger was ordered to pay a superb of Rs 10,000.
