Indian imports of Russian power signify solely 1-2% of its whole power imports: White House

Noting that reporting power funds by India usually are not sanctioned, the White House stated New Delhi’s imports of Russian power signify just one to 2 per cent of its whole power imports.
The White House additionally reiterated that it isn’t in India’s curiosity to extend its import of power from Russia and that the Biden administration is prepared to work with New Delhi to assist it do this.
“Right now, just to give everybody the full scope of it, India’s imports of Russian energy represent only one to two per cent of their total energy imports,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki informed reporters at her every day information convention on Monday.
She was responding to questions on the go to of prime Indian-American US advisor Daleep Singh to New Delhi final week.
“While he (Singh) explained both the mechanisms of our sanctions and reiterated that any country or entity should be abiding by those, we also made it clear that we would be happy to be a partner in reducing their reliance or even their small percentage of reliance on that,” she stated.

“Daleep Singh, our Deputy National Security Advisor, was just there. I would note that, you know, just given some of the reporting energy payments are not sanctioned. That is a decision made by each individual country,” Psaki stated in response to a query.
“And we have been very clear that each country is going to make their own choices even as we have made the decision and other countries have made the decision to ban the energy imports. What Daleep Singh did make clear to his counterparts during this visit was that we do not believe it is in India’s interest to accelerate or increase imports of Russian energy and other commodities,” the senior official added.
