Escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran have engulfed the Gulf in peril. After Israel’s assault on South Pars, Iran unleashed fury on Qatar and UAE gas sites. Foreign ministers from a dozen nations met urgently in Riyadh, forging a landmark joint declaration slamming Tehran’s moves.

Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the UAE spoke as one: stop the attacks now and uphold global law. They decried the endangerment of civilians via strikes on homes, desalination units, airports, energy plants, and envoys’ quarters.

Lebanon’s Israeli bombardments earned parallel rebuke, with pledges to protect sovereignty intact. Qatar’s Ras Laffan inferno and Saudi missile defenses painted a dire picture of disrupted lifelines.

In swift retaliation, Qatar deemed Iranian staff unwelcome, mandating exit within a day per UN Resolution 2817 protocols. The emirate stressed its disengagement stance amid Iran’s provocations, terming them a stability shredder.

Relational prospects with Iran? Contingent on non-violation and demilitarization vows. Iranian outlets had alleged US-Israel strikes beforehand. This chorus of condemnation could pivot the crisis toward uneasy peace or deeper strife.
