In a chilling expose, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue has flagged Ireland as a prime target for an Iranian-orchestrated information warfare campaign. Bogus social media handles connected to Iran, Russia, and China have been flooding platforms with Ireland-centric content.

Profile data pins access to these accounts in Iran, tying them potentially to the IRGC’s ‘Storm-2035′ initiative. The Irish Times’ Ciaran O’Connor reports AI’s role in crafting content that slams America and Israel, while championing Iran and Palestinian causes.

O’Connor observes a surge in attention from UK and North American influencers on Irish matters. In a daily op-ed, he described their tactics: ‘Twisting facts into scare stories to push agendas, undermining institutions, and depicting Ireland as a surveillance state.’

Notably, four X accounts faking Irish Muslim identities—recent converts dreaming of unity—were exposed as frauds. Russian networks dominate, disseminating prohibited media through faux legitimate sites untouched by bans.

The analysis spotlights migration as a key theme, where foreign state actors portray it to erode trust in Western leadership, EU unity, and democracy itself. Chinese activities emerged as the most sophisticated, weaving intricate narratives that could reshape public discourse in unexpected ways.
