Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, a member of the Axiom Mission 4, has shared his insights on the scientific research being conducted on the International Space Station (ISS), with a special focus on Indian-led initiatives. Shukla, the first Indian to visit the ISS, has been heavily engaged in research activities since his arrival. He discussed the ongoing research and advancements with Axiom Space’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Lucie Low, emphasizing the contributions of Indian scientists. He highlighted the ISS as a vital hub for research and innovation, adding that his mission is opening new possibilities for Indian researchers. The research projects include stem cell studies, investigations into seed growth in microgravity, and the evaluation of astronaut cognitive loads. A notable project involves stem cell research, exploring if supplements can speed up recovery, growth, or repair of injuries. Group Captain Shukla is proud to be a bridge between researchers and the ISS, facilitating the research. The Ax-4 crew, launched on June 25, is expected to stay on the ISS for up to 14 days.
