The Pakistani Foreign Office has responded to recent comments made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan strongly refuted the claims made by PM Modi, particularly those concerning the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the loss of 26 tourists. The Pakistani authorities dismissed the allegations as ‘baseless’ and ‘misleading,’ stating that no evidence has been provided to support the accusations and warned against an attempt to shift the focus from the human rights conditions in the region, termed as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The statement also addressed PM Modi’s comments on regional development, expressing concerns about heavy security presence, constraints on civil liberties, and demographic alterations. Pakistan views such actions as potential contraventions of international legal frameworks, including the Fourth Geneva Convention. India, on the other hand, asserts that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and continues to prioritize its administration, development, and safety. Pakistan reiterated its solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and called on the international community to safeguard their rights, including their right to self-determination as per United Nations Security Council resolutions. This clash is the latest development in the historical India-Pakistan conflict over Jammu and Kashmir. International players have appealed for constructive talks to seek peace for all.
