Maharashtra MLC Election: All 9 NDA candidates won, Maha Vikas Aghadi got two seats, Congress got 1 seat

Mumbai: Legislative Council elections were held in Maharashtra today, in which all 9 candidates of Mahayuti i.e. NDA have won the elections. At the same time, 2 candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi have won. The election was held between Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). Voting was held from 9 am to 4 pm and the counting of votes started at 5 pm. Let us tell you that 12 candidates were in the fray in the election for 11 seats of the Legislative Council in the state.

NDA wins 9 out of 11 seats

In Maharashtra, NDA constituents BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar) won all the nine out of 11 seats of the state Legislative Council on which they contested. At the same time, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has registered two seats. BJP has won five seats while Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP have won two seats each. On behalf of the opposition MVA, Milind Narvekar, a close aide of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, and Congress candidate Pragya Satav have won. Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) candidate Jayant Patil, supported by Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP), has lost the election.

Which candidate is from which party?

BJP had fielded five candidates in the election, including former Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde, Yogesh Tilekar, Parinay Phuke, Amit Gorkhe and Sadabhau Khot. On the other hand, Shiv Sena had given tickets to two former Lok Sabha members Shivajirao Garje and Rajesh Vitekkar. Congress had nominated Satav for another term, while Shiv Sena (UBT) had fielded Narvekar. MVA’s third constituent NCP (SP) supported PWP’s Jayant Patil instead of fielding its own candidate.

Jayant Patil lost the election

At the same time, Jayant Patil of the Shetkari Kamgar Party lost the election. On behalf of the Mahavikas Aghadi, Shiv Sena UBT and Congress fielded one candidate each, while Sharad Pawar’s NCP did not field a candidate and supported Jayant Patil of the Bharatiya Shetkari Kamgar Party. Pragya Satav got 25 votes, Milind Narvekar got 22 votes and Jayant Patil got a total of 12 votes.

The total number of assembly seats in Maharashtra is 288. Currently, there are 274 MLAs in the state. In such a situation, at least 23 votes were required for the election of one MLC.
