Diplomatic praise from across continents underscores Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global appeal. Malta’s High Commissioner Ruben Gauci, in a revealing IANS interview on Saturday, celebrated Modi’s serene and disciplined approach to governance.
With over five years in New Delhi, Gauci has witnessed Modi’s tenure up close. ‘His leadership has always captivated me. He cultivates serenity, embodying patience and self-assurance in actions that serve India’s greater good,’ he observed.
Gauci stressed the rarity of such poise: ‘Leaders of populous giants deserve acclaim. Steering India through its complexities is no small feat, and Modi does it masterfully. Sealing the EU-India FTA would be a crowning achievement.’
Delving into the FTA’s intricacies, the commissioner called it the ‘mother of all deals.’ ‘Negotiations are tough, involving myriad economic streams between the EU and India. For a youth-rich nation like India, European investments translate to vital jobs and growth.’
Looking ahead, Gauci advocated for unrestricted exchanges: ‘This pact will unify trade platforms for all nations. Malta benefits from 114 Indian enterprises, but we need more presence in India. The FTA promises that expansion.’
His comments reflect a broader narrative of confidence in Modi’s vision, as India negotiates high-stakes pacts that could reshape Eurasian trade dynamics for decades.
