Five people, including a police officer and the suspected shooter, died in a shooting in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The gunman, identified as Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, began shooting inside an office building, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and one police officer. The gunman then turned the gun on himself. Mayor Eric Adams shared condolences to the family of the fallen officer, Didarul Islam. The area was the scene of a large emergency response, and accounts from those present spoke of the fear and pandemonium that followed the initial shots.
