Al Jazeera expressed sorrow over the loss of cameraman Mohammed Salama, calling it a horrific crime and accusing Israeli forces of suppressing the truth. The Associated Press conveyed deep shock and sadness at the death of Mariam Dagga. Reuters confirmed the death of its contract journalist Hussam al-Masri, and indicated that another journalist, Hatem Khaled, was injured. The Palestinian Journalists Union identified Muaz Abu Taha and Ahmed Abu Aziz as the other journalists killed. The Israeli army confirmed it carried out an attack in the Nasser Hospital area and announced a preliminary investigation. The army maintained it did not intend to harm innocent people or target journalists. AFP video footage of the aftermath showed smoke surrounding the hospital, bloodied bodies, and severed limbs being carried inside. The injured included a medical worker wearing scrubs.
