Strengthening educational infrastructure, India has launched funding for advanced school facilities in Nepal’s Rupandehi and Bajhang districts. Friday’s dual foundation-laying events in Butwal and Jayaprithvi herald a new chapter in cross-border cooperation.
The Nayagaon Secondary School project in Butwal, backed by 4.4 crore Nepali rupees from India, was inaugurated by Indian diplomat Suman Shekhar alongside local Mayor Khel Raj Pandey. This initiative aims to upgrade teaching and learning spaces significantly.
In Bajhang, the Shree Satyavadi Secondary School expansion – including admin blocks and hostels funded at 13.9 crore rupees – was kickstarted by Narayan Singh and Mayor Chet Raj Bajal, promising world-class amenities.
Key features encompass a three-floor administrative center, dedicated boys’ and girls’ residences, modern restrooms, and ancillary buildings, all designed to handle growing student populations effectively.
Implemented via the HICDP framework – a vital India-Nepal partnership tool since 2003 – these projects focus on grassroots development in critical sectors like schools, clinics, water systems, and power.
‘Our multi-dimensional engagement empowers Nepal’s growth,’ noted the Indian Embassy. By addressing educational gaps in underserved areas, these ventures will uplift communities, reduce dropout rates, and drive regional prosperity for generations.
