No nation practices terrorism like Pakistan does: Jaishankar
Taking a dig at Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday mentioned no different nation “practices terrorism” the best way India’s western neighbour does.
Speaking on “Rising India and the World: Foreign Policy in Modi Era” in Vadodara, Jaishankar mentioned the world is not tolerating terrorism anymore.
“We have a neighbour. Like we are expert in IT (information technology), they are expert in ‘international terrorists’. It is going on for years…but we could explain to world that terrorism is terrorism, today it is being done against us, tomorrow it will be against you,” Jaishankar mentioned.

“No other country practices terrorism in the manner in which Pakistan has done. You show me anywhere in the world what Pakistan has done for so many years against India. After the 26/11 Mumbai attack, it is important for us to be clear to ourselves that this kind of behaviour and action is unacceptable and there will be consequences,” the minister added.
Jaishankar credit score the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central authorities of creating different nations realise that terrorism can hurt them too sooner or later if not contained now.
“We are fairly successful in taking along the world in this fight against terrorism. Earlier, other countries used to ignore this issue thinking it would not affect them because it was happening somewhere else. Today, there is a pressure on those who support terrorism. This is an example of our diplomacy,” Jaishankar mentioned.

Jaishankar additionally recalled PM Modi’s recommendation to not yield below strain over oil purchases from Russia.
“Due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, petrol prices doubled. We had pressure from where to buy the oil but PM Modi and government were of the view that we have to do what is best for our nation and if pressure comes, we should face it,” Jaishankar mentioned.
“During Covid, PM Modi asked US President not to stop the vaccine supply chain for India and the world and as a result of that, the US administration gave India an exemption in the Defence Production Act and due to that our vaccination program went smoothly,” he added.
