‘No state should stand in way…: US warns after China blocks blacklisting of Pak-based terrorists

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned China in opposition to blocking decision to designate terrorists below UNSC’s 1267 checklist.
By India Today Web Desk: Addressing a particular assembly of the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) Counter-Terrorism Committee in Mumbai, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated, “all relevant parties should support these resolutions and no nation should stand in their way”.
Blinken stated member states ought to assist the resolutions to designate terrorists below the UNSC’s 1267 checklist.
The 1267 checklist is maintained by the committee fashioned in 1999 below the UNSC.
The committee permits the UN member states so as to add to the checklist the identify of any group affiliated with Al Qaeda or ISIS as a terrorist group.
Bliken’s assertion was directed in direction of China, which had blocked the proposal by India and the US to blacklist Pakistan-based militant and Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed’s son, Hafiz Talah Saeed.

Recalling the horrors of the Mumbai assault, Antony Blinken stated, “Six US citizens were among those who died in the November 2008 terror attacks in the city”.
“We stand in solidarity with India and all nations that lost people on that day. But we must do more than mourning. We have the responsibility to the victims and people everywhere to bring justice to the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks and their masterminds,” Blinken famous.
“This is why the United States is working with India and other partners for 14 years because when we allow the architects of these attacks to go unpunished, we send a message to terrorists everywhere that their heinous will be tolerated,” he added.
