The White House is making a case for former President Donald Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in facilitating peace deals and ceasefires in several global conflicts. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted Trump’s involvement, claiming that an average of one peace deal or ceasefire was achieved per month.
Leavitt pointed to the Thailand-Cambodia conflict, where Trump is said to have secured an immediate ceasefire. She also claimed that Trump spoke directly to the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia, linking trade discussions with ending the conflict. Leavitt said that Trump brokered peace deals between India and Pakistan, and other nations.
India, however, has disputed Trump’s claims, maintaining that any discussions regarding Jammu and Kashmir must be conducted bilaterally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that no world leader asked India to stop its operations. Modi also revealed a conversation with the US Vice President regarding a potential Pakistani attack, where he warned of a strong Indian response. A cessation of hostilities was agreed upon after communication between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan.
