China’s commitment to electric mobility reached new heights as its EV charging points surpassed 2 million, the National Energy Administration revealed. This makes China home to the world’s largest and most advanced charging ecosystem.
Detailed figures from December 2025 show 2.092 million installations in total. The infrastructure comfortably serves more than 4 million new energy vehicles, with 4.717 million public and 15.375 million private points driving the charge.
Progress is characterized by high-quality growth: accelerated deployment, boosted efficiency, and inclusive coverage. Doubling from 1 million took only 18 months, shattering prior records.
Power output at public stations has risen to 46.5 kW on average, a 33% improvement over 2024. Nationally, 71,500 chargers dot 98% of highway rest areas, and 19 provinces now offer complete rural access.
As China accelerates its net-zero goals, this milestone signals a future where EVs are the norm, inspiring global shifts toward sustainable driving.
