Tragedy struck Pakistan’s Punjab province late Saturday as overspeeding led to a horrific car accident, killing three and injuring one in Attock district’s Fateh Jang area.
According to local reports, the vehicle lost control due to high speed and crashed into a tree. Rescue 1122 responded immediately, providing aid to the wounded and recovering the bodies for the hospital.
This incident comes amid a 24-hour period marred by deadly road mishaps. Previously, Balochistan saw a passenger coach tumble on the Makran Coastal Highway near Gwadar, resulting in nine deaths and dozens injured. The Jiwani-Karachi bus from Al Usman Transport flipped after the driver lost grip near Hudd Goth Ormara.
Punjab’s Sargodha district witnessed even greater loss when fog-shrouded roads betrayed a mini-truck. Loaded with 23 people heading from Islamabad to a Faisalabad funeral, it plummeted into a dry canal in Ghalapur Bungalow. The crash killed 14, with women and children among the deceased—many passing away en route to medical care after the motorway detour proved fatal.
Authorities are now intensifying probes into these recurring disasters, pointing fingers at overspeeding, poor visibility, and subpar road conditions. Public safety campaigns urge drivers to respect limits and weather alerts. With funerals underway, Pakistan grapples with its road fatality crisis, pushing for systemic changes to prevent future losses.
