Pakistan Army sacks 3 officers over violence by Imran Khan supporters

By Press Trust of India: Pakistan Army on Monday introduced that three officers together with a Lieutenant-General have been sacked and motion was taken in opposition to three major- generals and 7 brigadiers for failing to guard the army installations through the May 9 violent protests following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.

Khan’s social gathering staff vandalised over 20 army installations and authorities buildings, together with the Lahore Corps Commander House, Mianwali airbase and the ISI constructing in Faisalabad. The Army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi was additionally attacked by the mob for the primary time.

Military spokesman Major General Arshad Sharif stated the military performed two probes into the protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters and took motion.

“After a deliberate accountability process, keeping the requests of in-court inquiries in view, disciplinary proceedings were initiated against those who failed to keep the security and honour of garrisons, military installations, Jinnah House and General Headquarters intact.

“Three officers, together with a Lieutenant-General, have been eliminated and strict disciplinary proceedings accomplished in opposition to different officers, together with three main generals and 7 brigadiers, have been accomplished,” he stated.

He stated probes have been carried out by officers of main basic degree officers.

“All the people involved (in May 9 violence) will be punished under the Constitution and law,” stated Sharif whereas addressing a press convention.

He described the incident of May 9 as “extremely disappointing, condemnable and a black chapter in the history of our country”.

“The events of May 9 have proven what enemies couldn’t do in 76 years, a bunch of miscreants and their facilitators did,” the officer stated, as he described the incident as “a conspiracy in opposition to Pakistan”.
