Police in Los Angeles Fatally Shoot Man Wielding Blade After Gatka Performance

Following multiple 911 calls, Los Angeles police encountered Gurpreet Singh, 36, who was reportedly performing Gatka in the street near the Crypto.com Arena. Singh was seen wielding a ‘khanda’, a double-edged sword used in Sikh martial arts. The situation escalated after Singh abandoned his car, attempted to harm himself, and then approached officers with the blade. Officers subsequently opened fire, fatally wounding Singh. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with no other injuries reported. The incident occurred near the intersection of Figueroa Street and 12th Street.
