Russia carried out substantial strikes on multiple Ukrainian military facilities and gas infrastructure, as reported. The overnight attacks utilized long-range drones and missiles, launched from various platforms, successfully targeting all predetermined locations, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence. Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state-owned energy company, indicated that the strikes were the most extensive yet on its gas extraction sites, causing ‘critical’ damage, with around 35 missiles hitting facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions. The assault exceeds the scale of a previous large-scale attack in July, occurring during recent attempts by Kyiv’s Western allies to pursue a peace agreement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the attacks as a deliberate act and an extension of the conflict, while Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko characterized the assault as a “massive attack,” indicating that several cities were impacted.
