A harrowing plane crash occurred in central Mexico yesterday, claiming the lives of at least seven people aboard a small charter aircraft attempting an emergency landing. The plane had taken off from Acapulco and was en route to an area near Toluca.
The tragic event saw a Cessna Citation III private jet crash into an industrial warehouse in San Mateo Atenco, an area just kilometers from Toluca Airport. The impact generated a large, visible column of black smoke, signaling the severity of the incident.
Authorities confirmed the jet was carrying eight passengers and two crew members. Tragically, seven bodies have been recovered following the crash, and search operations are still in progress to locate any missing individuals. Information suggests the pilot was engaged in an emergency landing maneuver at the time of the accident.
Reports indicate the pilot may have been attempting to land on a football field, but the aircraft ultimately impacted the metal roof of a nearby office structure. This collision resulted in a significant and rapidly spreading fire.
In response to the fire and potential hazards, approximately 130 individuals from the surrounding industrial area were evacuated. Emergency services were mobilized swiftly to the scene. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the unscheduled landing and the fatal crash.
