Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently undertaking a significant three-nation tour encompassing Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman, with the primary objective of intensifying strategic alliances. The Prime Minister emphasized that India shares both deep historical roots and robust modern-day connections with all three countries. In Jordan, the visit marks a milestone, celebrating 75 years of established diplomatic relations. Key engagements include meetings with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, as well as an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Amman. Following Jordan, the Prime Minister will visit Ethiopia, a nation he noted has not hosted an Indian Prime Minister since 2011. Addis Ababa, home to the African Union headquarters and a new G20 member, will be the site for comprehensive discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. A special address to the Joint Session of Parliament is on the agenda, where the Prime Minister will share insights on India’s democratic journey and the prospective advantages of the India-Ethiopia partnership for the Global South. The tour culminates in Oman, as India and Oman celebrate seven decades of diplomatic relations. High-level talks with the Sultan of Oman are slated to focus on strengthening the strategic partnership and economic ties, alongside an address to the Indian diaspora in Muscat, recognizing their significant contributions.
