China is conducting extensive evacuations, relocating hundreds of thousands of people as Super Typhoon Ragasa approaches its southern coast. The storm has prompted the closure of schools and some businesses in a minimum of ten cities. Hong Kong has raised its typhoon warning to level eight, in preparation for the typhoon’s arrival. The storm is expected to hit China’s Guangdong province on Wednesday, with nearly 370,000 people already evacuated. Officials have alerted the public about a potential “catastrophic situation.” The Chinese meteorological agency has named Ragasa the “King of Storms” due to the severe hazards it presents. The super typhoon is predicted to affect northern Vietnam in the forthcoming days, with a possibility of affecting millions.
