The Taliban government in Afghanistan has banned the teaching of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution in universities, claiming it is against Islamic principles. Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the Minister of Higher Education, announced the ban at a conference on higher education in Herat. He criticized previous administrations for promoting moral corruption through the inclusion of subjects that opposed Islamic values. The conference saw participation from 29 scholars and researchers hailing from a variety of countries, including India, Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkey, Bangladesh, Britain, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, alongside representatives from both public and private universities.
