An incident occurred during a flight from Amritsar to Birmingham when the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) deployed unexpectedly before landing. This device is designed to provide backup power in emergency situations. The crew responded swiftly, ensuring a safe landing for the passengers. The plane was subsequently grounded for a comprehensive investigation. Following the incident, flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi was canceled. Air India is providing alternative flight options for affected passengers to complete their journey. The RAT automatically deploys in the case of critical failures. Flight AI117, which experienced the incident, departed Amritsar at 12:52 PM on October 4th and landed in Birmingham at 7:07 PM.
