A 13-year-old boy embarked on a perilous journey as a stowaway on a flight from Kabul to Delhi. The boy’s destination was originally Iran, but he mistakenly boarded a KAM Air flight. The teen hid in the rear wheel well of an Airbus A340. He survived the entire 94-minute flight. The flight departed from Karzai International Airport at 8:47 AM and arrived at Indira Gandhi Airport at 10:20 AM. The conditions within an aircraft wheel well are incredibly dangerous; low oxygen, freezing temperatures, and the possibility of being crushed are constant threats. Aviation expert Captain Mohan Ranganathan believes the boy may have found a small, somewhat protected space within the wheel bay. This is the second known instance of a stowaway at an Indian airport. A similar incident occurred in 1996.
