At the UN, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s attire included a QR code, immediately becoming a talking point. This code provided access to a website documenting the October 7th events. Israeli officials present also wore the same code, marking part of an outreach campaign. The campaign included the display of the QR code and the ‘Remember October 7th’ message on various digital platforms in New York, including near the UN and Times Square. The aim was to influence American public opinion, particularly given the ongoing protests concerning Israel’s actions in Gaza. During his speech, Netanyahu communicated with the Israeli hostages in Gaza via a loudspeaker, first in Hebrew and then in English, saying, “Our brave heroes (hostages), I am Prime Minister Netanyahu, speaking to you directly from the United Nations. We have not forgotten you for a moment. The people of Israel are with you.” He also committed to continue working for the return of the hostages. Netanyahu also mentioned that his speech was simultaneously broadcast on mobile phones in Gaza, acknowledging his intelligence agency’s role. As Netanyahu began his address, many delegates walked out of the UN hall in protest of Israel’s actions, whereas the Israeli delegation applauded.
