President Donald Trump disclosed that Chinese President Xi Jinping has approved the TikTok deal, enabling the video-sharing platform to continue its operations in the United States. Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump stated he had a productive discussion with President Xi, who sanctioned the TikTok deal. Trump mentioned that the deal is almost finalized and awaits only a formal signature. He also indicated that the TikTok deal is imminent and investors are in preparation. Trump stressed that the US would maintain robust control over the platform and that the app would be overseen by American investors. He extended his thanks to President Xi Jinping. The disclosure followed a phone call between Trump and Xi, covering various topics, including the TikTok arrangement. ByteDance subsequently released a statement thanking both presidents for their consideration of TikTok. Despite the law passed in April 2024, which aimed for a ban from January 19, 2025, the Trump administration has not enforced it. The US is pursuing a deal with China that would give American investors greater influence over TikTok.
