U.S. and Japan Envoys Head to India for Quad Summit
1 min readWith regional tensions rising, foreign ministers from the Quad countries are preparing to meet in India to coordinate on security and economic priorities. Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi will participate in the May 26 meeting in New Delhi after arriving on May 24. Alongside him will be U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Rubio’s first official trip to India includes stops in Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, and the capital, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Modi. Prior to this, Rubio will join NATO foreign ministers in Sweden for talks on alliance burden-sharing and Arctic security. Japanese and American officials have highlighted the importance of strengthening supply chains for essential minerals and enhancing maritime cooperation. The high-level engagements reflect growing alignment between Washington and New Delhi on Indo-Pacific strategy and technology partnerships.
