UCC: Cut off the tail of a monkey, cut off the nose of a human, both will become equal, we should be free to live according to our religion – Shankaracharya

Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj has given a big statement about Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He said that what does Uniform Civil Code (UCC) mean? Will a Hindu be allowed to remain a Hindu or not, will a Muslim be allowed to remain a Muslim or not? In the name of equality, if we say that humans and monkeys have to be brought together, then cut the tail of the monkey. Cut the nose of the human. Then both will become equal. The face will start looking similar. This is not a big deal. Therefore, we should be free to live according to our religion.

He further said that if we face any obstacle in this, and just because you have to live with them, you will have to compromise so much with religion. What kind of thing is this? We are unable to understand this. So, if we have to compromise with religion just to live with so and so, then how far will this be justified?

Shankaracharya further said that this is a matter to be considered. Therefore, we should be free to follow our religion. Rest you politicians can do whatever you want to do to create order in the country. We have no objection.
