US condemns assault in Swedish Embassy in Baghdad, criticises Iraq safety

The United States on Thursday strongly condemned the assault on the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad over a deliberate Koran burning in Stockholm and criticized Iraq’s safety forces for not stopping protesters from breaching the diplomatic put up.

“Freedom of peaceful assembly is an essential hallmark of democracy, but what occurred last night was an unlawful act of violence,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated.
