A prime US lawmaker welcomed the announcement by the militaries of India and Pakistan to strictly observe all agreements on ceasefire alongside the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and different sectors, and stated this is step one that can hopefully result in de-escalation of pressure.

The White House on Thursday had stated the transfer is a constructive step in the direction of larger peace and stability in South Asia.

“I welcome the announcement by the governments of India and Pakistan to resume a ceasefire along their shared border,” Congressman Gregory Meeks, chairman of the highly effective House Foreign Affairs Committee, stated.

“A first step that I hope will lead to continued de-escalation of tension,” he stated.

In a joint assertion on Thursday India and Pakistan had stated that they’ll strictly observe all agreements on ceasefire alongside the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and different sectors with impact from February 25.

The Hindu American Foundation additionally welcomed the assertion and referred to as on Pakistan to honour its worldwide commitments, finish financing and sponsoring of terrorist organisations and its cross-border terrorist assaults in India.
