A 19-year-old from Arizona, Renna O’Rourke, has tragically died as a result of the ‘dusting’ challenge, a dangerous trend on social media. The challenge, involving inhaling keyboard cleaner, led to cardiac arrest and ultimately, brain death after several days in the ICU. Her father reported that her boyfriend had acquired the aerosol cleaner without their knowledge. ‘Dusting,’ also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming,’ poses significant health risks and can lead to severe outcomes, including heart failure. Renna’s family is now focused on raising awareness about the dangers of this trend, urging parents to actively monitor their children’s activities and living spaces. They are also managing a GoFundMe page to manage medical bills and the costs of therapy. Similar incidents have been reported, emphasizing the urgent need to address this issue.
