Video narrated by killed Al Qaeda chief Zawahiri surfaces: Report

Al Qaeda has launched a video of its chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was believed to have been killed in a US raid in August 2022.

By Reuters: Al Qaeda has launched a 35-minute recording the group claims was narrated by its chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, who was believed to have been killed in a US raid in August 2022, SITE intelligence group stated on Friday.

The recording was undated and the transcript didn’t clearly level in direction of a timeframe for when it may have been made.

Zawahiri was killed in a US strike in Afghanistan, the largest blow to the militant group since its founder Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011.

Zawahiri had been in hiding for years, and the operation to find and kill him was the results of “careful, patient and persistent” work by the counterterrorism and intelligence group, a senior US administration official stated.

Al Qaeda has not named a successor. But Saif al-Adel, a mysterious, low-key former Egyptian particular forces officer who’s a high-ranking member of Al Qaeda, is seen by consultants as the highest contender.

The United States is providing a reward of as much as $10 million for data resulting in his arrest.
