A 19-year-old girl from Arizona, Renna O’Rourke, has died as a result of participating in the ‘dusting’ trend, a dangerous activity promoted on social media. After inhaling keyboard cleaner, she suffered cardiac arrest and was later declared brain dead. Her family is actively working to raise awareness about the trend’s risks, which include heart failure. They’re urging parents to monitor their children’s online activities and belongings. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover medical expenses. The trend, also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming,’ involves inhaling household chemicals for a temporary high. Sadly, a similar tragedy occurred in the UK, underscoring the need for caution.
