On Wednesday, Beijing hosted crucial bilateral talks between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iran’s Abbas Araghchi. The agenda covered updates on Iran-US discussions and Tehran’s roadmap ahead.

Araghchi highlighted that history shows military action cannot fix political impasses. Iran stands firm on protecting its sovereignty and prestige, yet pursues all-encompassing, permanent fixes through persistent peace talks and unity efforts.

He hailed Xi Jinping’s four-point peace plan for the region, pledging adherence. Araghchi thanked China for its righteous, constructive interventions against worsening scenarios. Iran trusts China to keep playing a vital part in peace promotion, war prevention, and endorsing a new regional order post-conflict that equates development with security.

Wang Yi described the current landscape as a make-or-break moment for war versus peace. China insists on total halts to fighting, no restarts, and steadfast negotiation. It supports Iran’s sovereignty and security protections.

Wang addressed Gulf concerns, noting universal anxiety over secure navigation and calling for immediate responses to international calls.

For the nuclear issue, he commended Iran’s weapon-free vow, recognized its right to civilian nuclear tech, and pushed for self-determination among Gulf and Mideast states. Iran should foster talks with regional peers.
