Watch: Thousands of vans caught at Afghan-Pakistan border crossing

A key border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan remained closed for a 3rd day on Tuesday, with hundreds of products autos caught and companies going through losses as officers from either side attempt to dealer an answer.  Taliban authorities on Sunday (February 19) closed Torkhum, the primary level of transit for travellers and items between Pakistan and landlocked Afghanistan.  “The closure of the border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been causing losses to traders of the two countries. There are long queues of heavy trucks stranded on both sides of the border,” mentioned Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, director of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He mentioned as much as 6,000 vans loaded with items had been caught on either side since Sunday.  The motive for the closure was not completely clear, although officers on either side have mentioned they have been in discussions to resolve the difficulty. A provincial Taliban official informed Reuters on Monday Pakistan had not lived as much as its commitments to permit transit, travellers and sick folks in search of therapy to cross.
