The weather bureau has issued a yellow alert today for heavy rainfall across multiple districts within Jharkhand. This alert indicates that significant precipitation is anticipated. Ranchi, the state’s capital, is expected to receive only light rainfall, and therefore is not under the alert. The areas covered by the alert include Garhwa, Chatra, Palamu, Latehar, Deoghar, Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, Sahibganj, and Pakur. The forecast also warns of potential strong winds and lightning in certain locations. The cause of the predicted heavy rainfall is a cyclonic system currently active in Bengal and Bihar, which is predicted to bring heavy rain over the next 24 hours. Furthermore, rainfall is expected in Ranchi on August 8. Over the past 24 hours, rainfall measurements have been: Godda (Pathargama) – 170.2 mm, Pakur – 81.4 mm, Dumka – 35.3 mm, Latehar – 54 mm, Medininagar – 10 mm, Bokaro – 3 mm, and Ranchi – 1 mm.
