Police in Greater Noida have apprehended two promoters affiliated with a prominent builder group in the high-profile death case of young software engineer Yuvraj Mehta. The duo, identified as Ravi Bansal and Sachin Karnwal, are now in custody on charges of causing death by negligence.
Back on the fateful night of January 16-17, tragedy struck at a Knowledge Park construction site where Yuvraj, aged 27, succumbed to drowning in accumulated rainwater. The site’s hazardous conditions, filled with water due to builder lapses, led to the FIR under relevant sections for culpable homicide.
Hailing from Faridabad and Ghaziabad respectively—Ravi from Manglam Residency Flat D-76 and Sachin from Shalimar Garden Flat B-6—the accused were promoters for Lotus Green. This operation was part of Commissioner Gautam Buddh Nagar’s aggressive pursuit of fugitives, meticulously overseen by DCP Greater Noida and executed by Knowledge Park SHO’s team.
Background checks on the arrestees are underway, with interrogations revealing potential links to further negligence. They face court soon, and the probe promises more revelations.
This development highlights systemic issues in India’s realty sector, where rapid urbanization often bypasses safety norms. Yuvraj’s family demands thorough justice, fueling calls for overhaul in construction oversight to honor the lost and protect the vulnerable.
