The initial reports had indicated that the death was caused by scuba diving but the postmortem examination showed drowning as the cause. The CID has added murder charges to the case. Four people have been arrested. The incident has garnered significant attention, and the renaming has been widely praised on social media, with users sharing screenshots of the Google Maps update. A police team is set to travel to Singapore to further investigate the matter. The Assam government has also launched a judicial investigation into the death of Zubeen Garg and more than 60 FIRs were filed in Assam.
